In 1921 Andes Mints were born; one of the first chocolate dessert mints on the market. Other popular retro mints include Rito Mints, Lifesaver mints, and Buttermints. Mint candy was originally ingested for medicinal purposes to relieve an upset stomach. In 1780 Smith Kendon invented Altoids for just that reason. It wasn't until the early 20th century when mints became popular for their breath-freshening properties. Wrapped peppermints candy marketing focused on convenience and the ability to freshen breath in social settings. Shop our cool selection of bulk mint candy!
