Candy Corn's roots trace back to the late 19th century. George Renninger of the Wunderle Candy Company is often credited with its original creation in the 1880s. Initially called "Chicken Feed" due to its kernel-like appearance, it was marketed to an agricultural America. The Goelitz Confectionery Company (now Jelly Belly) began producing it around 1900, popularizing the tri-color design and renamed it candy corn.
