Roses Brands

Rose's, originally known as L. Rose & Co., began in 1868 when Scottish ship chandler Lauchlan Rose patented the world’s first commercially produced concentrated fruit juice in 1867. This lime cordial was created using sugar instead of alcohol to preserve the lime juice, a daily ration of which had been mandatory for British sailors since 1795 to prevent scurvy, earning them the nickname "limeys." Rose's later diversified its lime fruit production, leading to the creation of its popular lime marmalade by 1930. The brand was acquired by Schweppes in 1957.
