Bubble Gum was invented in 1928 by one of our local heroes, Walter Diemer, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its an amazing story worth looking into if you have the time and interest. Amazingly, Diemer was actually an accountant, but experimented with gum recipes as a hobby in his spare time. Gum at the time was sticky - it stuck to your face. Walter Diemer managed to created a recipe that was not so sticky, super stretchy and fun to chew! Legend has it that the entire first batch, wrapped in spare saltwater taffy paper and cost 1 cent, sold out on the first day. You can still buy his gum here at Candy Nation. It was called Dubble Bubble and it still tastes the same and is still wrapped the same way it was back then. Back then, you could only get bubble gum in one flavor and one color (pink). Now you can enjoy hundreds of different colored gum balls and unique bubblegum flavors. Match your party theme or create a sweet craft display with our large selection of bubble gum!
