Originally known as the Glade Candy Company, founded by James Glade in Utah in 1916, it was initially a full-line candy manufacturer. However, the company's unique "whipped" style of salt water taffy gained significant renown. In 1994, James's grandson, David Glade, then president, strategically rebranded the company as "Taffy Town, Inc." to reflect their exclusive focus on taffy excellence. This shift cemented their position as a specialized, family-owned business, distinguished by their softer, chewier taffy that doesn't stick to teeth like traditional pulled varieties, available in over 90 flavors today.
