Mascot Pecan Shelling Company, Inc. began its history in 1955 as a humble roadside gas station and tourist stop in Glennville, Georgia, founded by Mills and Juliet Tarver. Catering to travelers on the then-busy Highway 301, the "Mascot" quickly became famous for its unique handmade candies and, crucially, fresh Georgia pecans. Mills started the business by shelling pecans by hand, and as demand grew through a small mail-order business, he introduced an automated cracking system. Today, the third-generation, family-run company stands in the same historic location, evolving into an integrated shelled pecan and specialty candy processor.
