Washburn Candy

F.B. Washburn Candy Corporation, America's oldest family-owned candy business, traces its origins back to Brockton, Massachusetts, in 1856. Founded by Francis B. Washburn as an offshoot of his bakery, the company initially gained popularity for a coconut cookie that led them into the candy realm. They soon created the famous Waleeco Coconut bar and other classic hard candies like Sour Balls and Peppermint Starlights. Enduring the Great Depression, the Gilson family took ownership in 1933, revitalizing the brand. In 1986, Washburn acquired its main competitor, Sevigny's, and continues to produce beloved holiday specialties like their iconic Ribbon Candy under both names. Today, F.B. Washburn remains a testament to enduring confectionery tradition, still manufacturing many original recipes.
