They were first introduced in 1971 by Jack Candies, a British distributor for Mars, Incorporated, though Mars itself was granted the U.S. trademark in 1974. Skittles then crossed the Atlantic, arriving in the United States in 1979, with U.S. production beginning in 1982. Their iconic "Taste the Rainbow" slogan, which debuted in 1994, cemented their playful image. Over the years, Skittles have expanded beyond their original five flavors to include various assortments like Sour and Wild Berry, maintaining their popularity as a chewy, colorful, and fun treat worldwide.
