Dryden & Palmer, a historic candy brand with roots dating back to 1880, began as a partnership between Charles Dryden and Noah Palmer. The company's original claim to fame was rock candy, which was not only a popular confection but also widely used as a cough and cold remedy. Saloons were a major customer base, using the sugar crystals to create a popular drink called "Rock & Rye" by dissolving it in rye whiskey. The brand survived Prohibition and is credited with a significant innovation in the 1960s: pioneering the rock candy on a stick, which transformed the treat into a novelty item and helped solidify the company's place in the market.
