Big League Chew

Big League Chew's origins are a true baseball story. Conceived in 1977 by former Portland Mavericks pitcher Rob Nelson and teammate Jim Bouton, the idea was born in the bullpen as a fun, tobacco-free alternative to the chewing habit common among players. The first prototype was made by hand in a kitchen using a shredded gum kit, and the product was officially introduced in 1980 by Amurol Products. Its iconic shredded gum format in a stay-fresh pouch was an instant hit, and over a billion pouches have since been sold, solidifying its place in baseball history and culture.
