Baby Ruth Fun Size Candy

Baby Ruth Fun Size candy bars are a delectable treat that combines peanuts, caramel, and nougat, all covered in smooth milk chocolate. This American candy bar comes in a small, fun size.

The Baby Ruth bar was first introduced in 1920 after being reformulated from an earlier candy called the "Kandy Kake." The Curtiss Candy Company of Chicago is credited with its creation. By the late 1920s, it had become the best-selling five-cent candy bar in the United States.

A long-standing debate surrounds the origin of its name. While many assume it was named after the famous baseball player Babe Ruth, the Curtiss Candy Company consistently maintained that it was named in honor of Ruth Cleveland, the daughter of former U.S. President Grover Cleveland, who died in 1904 at the age of 12.

This claim is met with skepticism by many, especially considering Babe Ruth's immense popularity at the time the candy bar was introduced. Some historians believe the name was a clever marketing strategy to capitalize on the baseball star's fame without having to pay him royalties. Interestingly, Babe Ruth himself reportedly believed the candy was named after him. The Curtiss Candy Company even successfully defended its naming in court against a candy company that tried to market a "Ruth's Home Run" bar.
