Taste of Nature, Inc. was founded in 1992 in California by Scott Samet and Douglas Chu to initially provide healthier alternative snacks to movie theaters and the bulk trade. When this venture stalled, the company pivoted to candy, launching their biggest proprietary brand, Cookie Dough Bites, in 1997. Originally sold exclusively in movie theaters, the chocolate-coated, egg-free edible cookie dough became a national hit. Today, Taste of Nature is a large snack food manufacturer with a diverse portfolio of licensed and proprietary brands, including Muddy Bears, Doughlish, and a recent partnership with Mars-Wrigley for new cotton candy and cookie dough products.
