Loading... Please wait...Mary Jane candy seems so plain and dull when looking at the wrapper. When I was a kid I used to dread getting this in my bag at Halloween. Now that I'm older I appreciate this wonder of Americana. The taffy related candy is made of molasses peanut butter and takes time to chew. That's right I said molasses! This ingriedient screams "old fashioned" Who does not like peanut butter? Inside these candies is a peanut butter center. I sometimes eat my lunch or dinner and eat this treat at the end in place of dessert. The candy takes time to savor for sure. The official name of this candy is "Mary Jane" but many people use the plural and call them "Mary Janes"
Mary Janes were originally introduced in 1914 by the Charles Miller Company and then later made by the Stark Candy Company and now the famouse Necco candy company.
