These licorice cakes also known as pontefract cakes candy are quite authentic.  The texture is soft and chewy while the licorice taste is quite pleasing and mild.  The castle logo on each piece brings you back to the middle ages!  I can eat these for days on end because I'm a licorice lover.  Even people who do not love licorice can like this candy in small quantities becuase the taste is not over powering.
